Add Main Page to root
Could you add the Main Page to the Category:Minetest (Root Category) so that one can walk the categories from there as designed here (wip)--Twoelk (talk) 20:26, 16 April 2014 (MSK)

You seem to be right. How do I move the pages and put redirects in place? --Twoelk (talk) 21:43, 25 April 2014 (MSK)

PS: pense à signer tes messages avec ~~~~ :) Calinou (t c), 00:00, 6 May 2014 (MSK)
Suggestion: Server subpages?
All of mods goes under Mods/ subpages, all of subgames goes under Subgames/ subpages, so why not if servers goes under Server/ subpages? I saw someone wrote about ROBOTS-server and ROBOTS_SKYBLOCK which are servers, I think it would be great if servers are included in the wiki too and it would be more organized if they're written under Server/ subpage.
So, what do you think? --Muhdnurhidayat (talk | contribs | sig) 18:16, 14 November 2017 (UTC)
- This is a good idea, in general, community stuff like mods and servers should go to their own namespace (the mainspace being for things that are officially part of Minetest). However, I would make sure the server is particularly notable or popular before creating a page about it (so that we don't end up with hundreds of pages about servers). Calinou, 19:21, 16 November 2017 (UTC)
- I've made Template:Server Data for server pages, feel free to add or remove anything at the template. I'm also contacting a few server owners to get permission on making pages about their servers. I'm thinking that either servers which have more than 30 players as TOP value in servers.minetest.net list or servers running more than 2 years are both notable enough? --Muhdnurhidayat (talk | contribs | sig) 16:47, 17 November 2017 (UTC)

could you please delete the misspelled category Category:TurtelMiner, thx --Twoelk (talk) 19:43, 28 November 2017 (UTC)
Restructuring and merging
- Hi Calinou.
- I decided to merge a lot of subpages into their main article, cause the most of these subpages containing nearly no content and it is just a waste of ressources on both sides, server and client.
- Also it is a mess to find all these pages without using the page information link and after that the sublink for subpages (most wikimedia software users do not even know that these exist...), cause they are not all linked in the main article.
- I will make some exceptions for large tutorials like robots and stuff like that, cause else the main article would be bloated.
- I will set links to these these subpages in the main articles.
- I also noticed, that the categories are inconsistent and some there were/are redundant (same topic different categories).
- I created some new categories and putted a delete template in some others.
- I decide to bring logic into these, like it is done in the wikipedia (correct and logical tree structures).
- I contributed to wikipedia many years, so I am pretty familiar with it.
- Further the translation pages are subpages, maybe you can not do it like it is at wikipedia, but they shouldn't all get the english category template in it, so I removed a lot of them.
- We need category pages for all available translations, so that for example you have an english article about education purpose with the "Category:Education" template in it and the same article as subpage in french with the "Catégorie:Éducation" template in it.
- Anything else is not clearly arranged and people who can not read english wont even be able to understand the categorie links at the bttom of the articles.
- When most of the basic work is done, I will post in the different language subforums of forum.minetest.net and ask people to help with that stuff (I can not speak and read all these languages).
- Also I will create a main topic, to tell the the wiki was cleaned up and that people should consider to partizipate and contribute in it.
- We could "hire" modtester, and let them editing the mod articles for example, or people who take photos of texture packs or scenes from games.
- I have just started, so please be patient with me, cause the last... 8 hours or so?... I edited different things and most of the time I didn't used the summary, becuase I would have to write dozen times the same sentences... (did I mentioned that this wiki is abandoned and lacks on all places? ;D).
- None of the three issues are solved yet, it will take some time.
- Oh and do not be afraid I wont delete any content, except old one (for example I deleted a sentence in one article that recommends downloading mods from Minetest Bower).
- Best regards
- PS: An example of a restructured article be me (nearly no new or modified content): Article:Mods
- PPS: The language specific categories work neither (maybe they could be implemented?), so I recommend the following, to include more non-english speaking people into the wiki, read here.

Template issue
- Geez! I've moved some language templates to the bottom of some articles but the appearance of the language switch will move with that too!
- Crap I will change that later again...
- Normally in the wikipedia templates are above the categories but below the article, I moved them because of that and to get the correct category sorting from specific to general...
- Sigh* so much to do here...
- Voxel (talk) 18:45, 9 April 2021 (UTC)
- Ok fixed! I put that template back to the top of the pages where I putted it to the bottom.
- The problem is, that this template also defines a category, wich is will always be the first in the list of categories, except you put the template below the categories.
- But then the banner will also move... *grml*
- The doc here shows how to prevent these, then I will have to add the Category:Languages pages to all the pages that have the default tmplate and change the template to "Languages|PageName|nocat=1"... geez.
- "Hey wikimedia templates never heard of the kiss principe? Just do one thing, not two nor several..."
- But as I understand the doc page it should have been used that way by default and that's what I am doing now everytime I see this template, I will add the pages Category:Languages pages by hand.

Better localisation with own pages
- Hi again.
- We should move all language specific subpages to their own main pages, the actual state isn't wiki conform and annoying.
- For example, I can have the page "Examplepage" in German then it will be called "Examplepage/de", that's the pagetitle then, but that title is not german, it should have the name "Beispielseite".
- Also people started such subpages with the translated title like that:
- = '''Beispielseite''' =
- that's ugly and against the wiki syntax rules.
- For that we need to have a new type of that language template if possible.
- It is already possible to link a page inside that template, individual for each site you put that template:
- {{Languages|Pagelink|nocat=1}}
- but we need to have multiple links there, for all available languages.
- I don't know if that is possible, but it would solve that pagetitle issue.
