A firefly is a glowing block that tends to appear in dark areas on the surface area. It disappears when in light.
Generation
Fireflies may appear above Dirt with Grass, Dirt with Coniferous Litter, Dirt with Rainforest Litter or Dirt. In all map generators except v6, they appear in deciduous forests, coniferous forest and rainforest biomes. In the v6 map generator, they may appear in any biome above one of the 4 aforementioned blocks.
Appearing and disappearing
When it is bright, the firefly disappears but it is not truly gone. When darkness returns, the firefly will quickly re-appear at the same spot, as long the block it “lived” in has not been tampered with.
Usage
It can be catched with a bug net. It can be used to craft a Firefly in a Bottle.
